Yes, July is the perfect time to visit the Faroes!
As one of our warmest months, July’s temperatures are typically in the mid-50 degrees Fahrenheit. While rain, wind, and fog can be daily occurrences, the long daylight hours give you plenty of time to squeeze in as much exploring as possible.
Since July is such a popular time for visiting you’ll want to book the details of your trip seven to nine months in advance.
Let the experienced Faroese team at REMÓT Travel craft a one-of-a-kind, bespoke Faroe Islands experience that’s unique to you.
From bird watching to knitting to cave diving to honeymoons to photography to luxury spas, we go beyond booking hotels and tours by including local experiences that create something uniquely special.

Known to locals simply as “The G!”, this annual Faroese musical festival is hosted by the seaside village of Gøta on Eysturoy in mid or late July. While the exact timing varies, the event always takes place before the Ólavsøka, the National Day of the Faroe Islands that marks the opening of the Faroese Parliament (Løgting) and commemorates Saint Olaf, former King of Norway.
Here you’ll experience Faroese music, from folk to heavy metal, and the event has been chosen as one of the world’s most authentic and rare cultural experiences.
For most Faroe Island visitors, hiking to the Kallur Lighthouse is a more “touristy” adventure, but REMÓT Travel makes it more unique and intimate.
We bring our travelers over via private boat to avoid the “peak” tourist hours that correlate with the local ferry schedule to the island.
Beginning at Trøllanes on the northern tip of Kalsoy Island. From iconic, grassy ridgeline scenery to dramatic sheer sea cliffs, the two-hour round-trip hike to Kallur Lighthouse is a transformative journey to a different universe.
Late July visitors to the Faroe Islands can experience the annual Faroese holiday of Ólavsøka in the capital, Tórshavn. The festival takes place on the 28th and 29th of July, and since it’s the main holiday in the Faroe Islands, shops and most tours are closed for both days.
Visitors come from far and wide to celebrate their Faroese heritage with singing, dancing, sporting events, and plenty of live music.
Boat racing is the Faroese national sport and is done in traditional wooden Faroese boats with designs that date back to the Vikings. The final race of the year takes place in Tórshavn during the Ólavsøka festivities.

As one of the world’s smallest and most charming capitals, Tórshavn boasts a unique blend of turf-roofed houses, ancient Nordic culture, and a modern, gourmet culinary scene. While you’re here, enjoy the town’s:
Historic charm: Discover the historic, Viking-era parliament district of Tinganes, with its red-painted, turf-roofed buildings, and meander through the narrow, crooked paths of á Reyni.
Unique culinary scene: Tórshavn may be tiny, but it boasts an impressive food scene that includes Michelin-recognized restaurants that focus on fermented local ingredients and traditional Nordic cuisine.
Cultural hub: You’ll be fully immersed in local Faroese culture when you visit the Nordic House, the National Gallery of the Faroe Islands, and the Tutl record store.
Picturesque harbour: Relax in the unique shops and cafes that dot Vágsbotn’s busy harbour. This area is also a popular spot for viewing colorful, classic Nordic buildings and fishing boats.
Accessibility to nature: Take off on a day trip to nearby natural wonders, including the historic village of Kirkjubøur or the stunning coastal scenery.
Stand in awe of the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs, the Faroe Islands’ towering 600–700 meter sheer basalt cliffs. You’ll feel the wind in your hair as you experience:
Breathtaking coastal views: Boat tours navigate in and out of sea caves, narrow straits, and deep grottoes, giving you close-up views of dramatic, rocky scenery.
Exotic birdlife: In July, cliffs are abundant with birdlife, providing the perfect backdrop for up-close viewing of puffins, razorbills, and guillemots.
Unique geology: Sail into narrow inlets between massive stone sea stacks.
Insightful commentary: Local Faroese guides share captivating tales of sheep herders, fishermen, and daring rescues.
REMÓT Travel’s boat tours provide you with a one-of-a-kind experience. Instead of following a pre-set itinerary, every detail of your boat tour in the Faroe Islands is customized to your specifications.

Hiking the secluded islet of Tindhólmur is truly a unique Faroe Islands adventure. Since it is privately owned, most tourists are unable to gain access, making the experience even more desirable.
REMÓT Travel not only provides our clients access to Tindhólmur, but we also transport them to the hiking destination via helicopter.
We can even arrange for a private Faroese dining experience in one of the two houses on the island.
Make your Faroe Islands trip unique! Let REMÓT Travel build you a multi-day itinerary with luxury hotel or scenic cottage accommodations, off-the-beaten-path adventure travel experiences like a helicopter tour, and more.
